Thousands of Fayetteville residents left in the dark due to outage

FAYETTEVILLE

Officials told ABC11 that the second largest transformer in the Sandhill blew near Cumberland Road and Owen Drive in Fayetteville around 10 p.m. following a fire on a Duke Energy Progress line feeding the PWC system.

PWC electric crews were able to restore power an hour later.

The outage affected about 31,500 customers in the area.
