FAYETTEVILLE (WTVD) -- The Cumberland County Sheriff's Office is asking for the public's help in identifying a robbery suspect at a convenience store in Fayetteville.
It happened Saturday just after 3:20 a.m. at the Kangaroo Store at 2990 Gillespie Street.
Deputies said the suspect had a black rifle and told a customer to get on the ground. He took money from the register and a pack of cigarettes from the customer on the ground, according to officials.
The suspect then sped in a greenish/blue car missing the driver's side hub caps, possibly a Chevrolet Cobalt. Deputies said they saw the car going south on Gillespie Street and chased him, but lost sight of the suspect near the intersection at Angle Drive.
The suspect is described as a tall, white male with a reddish colored, long scruffy beard.
The Sheriff's Office is requesting that if anyone can identify the suspect, please contact the Cumberland County Sheriff's Office at (910) 323-1500 or Crimestoppers (910) 483-8477.
