PHILADELPHIA -- Philadelphia police have released photos of a would-be rapist being fought off by the young woman he was trying to rape.
They are asking for the public's help in tracking down the suspect.
The attack happened at 1:30 a.m. Wednesday in the 1300 block of Wharton Street.
Police say the 19-year-old victim was approached from behind by a man who forced her to the ground, pulling down the top of her dress.
The woman struggled and was able to spray the suspect with Mace.
He then fled on foot, heading north on the 1200 block of Clarion Street.
Police have released the following description of the suspect:
Black male, approximately 37 years old, 5'7, 225 lbs, medium build, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and black pants.
