Tom Magliozzi of NPR's 'Car Talk' passes away at age 77

Tom Magliozzi, co-host of NPR's "Car Talk" and one of the country's most beloved radio personalities, passed away Monday at age 77.

Tom Magliozzi and his brother Ray were known as "Click and Clack the Tappet Brothers" on the popular weekly broadcast that ran for more than 30 years until the pair retired in 2012. The duo was just as well known for their jokes and stories as they were for their automotive advice.

NPR says Magliozzi died Monday of complications from Alzheimer's disease.

Some "Car Talk" fans are mourning Magliozzi's passing in ways the humorous radio personality might appreciate.

"You can pay your respects at the Will Diggum and Barry M. Deep Funeral Home," one person posted to the show's Facebook page, playing off Magliozzi and his brother's well-known end of show gag where all of the names in the credits are puns based off the person's job title.

Magliozzi was an MIT graduate who worked as a college professor and earned a doctoral degree in marketing, in addition to opening two automotive repair shops with his brother, according to NPR. The two reportedly got their start in radio when the local public radio station in Boston was putting together a panel of car experts and Tom Magliozzi was the only person to show up.
