Barry Sloane talks about starring in the new ABC thriller series 'The Whispers'

NEW YORK -- What happens when an imaginary friend isn't so imaginary? Two officials try to get to the bottom of it before other kids engage in a dangerous game with sometimes deadly consequences in "The Whispers".

Barry Sloane spoke about starring in the new ABC thriller-series as "Wes Lawrence". He's a Defense Department operative and he's going to have a hard time focusing on his newest assignment due to his wife recently finding out about an affair with FBI child specialist Claire Bennigan. But, he's not worried about his character not being likeable due to the affair and issues with his character's family. "I knew that he would do the right thing for the country, ultimately," Sloane said.

"Claire" is called to investigate after several kids begin talking about their imaginary friend "Drill" and horrible things start happening. She doesn't realize that her son Henry is also secretly speaking with Drill.

Sloane says that we will get to see Drill fairly early on and that the writers of the show are not about tricking the viewers and called them "generous" in what they let viewers in on. "By episode four you'll know what we are dealing with," he said. "I'd be asking people to take a look at his life, and see if you would do it any differently, and watching a man rebuild himself is as rewarding, you know, as anything I think."

As for working with all of the kids on the show, Sloane said, "They went out and got the best actors and it worked. They matched us all play for play and they were all great to work with. They really drive the show, they are the driving force behind it."

A series of different mysteries will come together on the show, but will the officials figure it out before it's too late? You can find out as the series begins on Monday night, June 1st on ABC.
