BLADENBORO, N.C. (WTVD) -- The NAACP is offering a reward in the case of Lennon Lacy, whose body was found hanging from a swing set in Bladenboro.

The FBI launched an investigation after Lacy's relatives and the NAACP raised doubts about the official findings, which the county coroner also questioned.

A 911 caller reported spotting the 17-year-old's body on Aug. 29, 2014. Lacy's feet were suspended 2 inches off the ground.

The state medical examiner ruled that the boy killed himself, but Lacy's mother called the ruling into question.

The attorney for Lacy's family says the reward was created to get people to come forward with new evidence.

They hope to have some new leads in about a month.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.
