CHESTER, S.C. -- An 11-year-old boy saved his little sister's life by pushing her out of the path of an oncoming vehicle. He was then struck by that car and died.
La'Darious Wylie was waiting for the school bus with his 7-year-old sister when a car veered toward them, WBTV-TV reports. La'Darious pushed his sister out of the way just in time.
"He knew to look out for her," the boy's mother Elizabeth McCrorey told ABC affiliate WSOC-TV.
La'Darious was then struck by the car. He died at the hospital.
The driver, later identified as Michelle Johnson, 57, didn't stick around. She's now charged in the fatal hit-and-run death.
"I don't hate her; I just wish she had stopped," McCrorey told WSOC-TV.
The boy's funeral is set for Thursday afternoon.
