Man faces rape charges in Chatham County

PITTSBORO, N.C. (WTVD) -- A Chatham County man has been accused of a horrible crime.

Deputies say 52-year-old Michael Hess, of Midland, repeatedly raped a 19-year-old disabled woman over the course of a year.

Investigators say he was a person of trust to the victim.

Hess is charged with one felony count of second degree rape, three felony counts of second degree sex offense, and one misdemeanor count of

sexual battery.

At last report, Hess was being held at the Chatham County Jail under a $300,000 secured bond.

Hess' next court date is July 7.
