RALEIGH (WTVD) -- A state employee is fighting for his life after suffering severe head trauma while setting up a lift at the State Archives building in downtown Raleigh Monday.
A spokesperson for the NC Department of Administration says two maintenance employees were working on an exterior light when a scissor lift toppled over, injuring one of the workers.
State Capitol police officers already on duty at the State Archives performed CPR on the man before paramedics arrived.
At last report, he was in the intensive care unit at WakeMed.
The North Carolina Occupational Safety and Health Administration is investigating the cause of the accident.
The incident follows a scaffolding collapse in recent weeks in downtown Raleigh that claimed the life of three construction workers.
