Durham officer injured while riding ATV at training range
A Durham police officer was injured while riding an ATV at a training range Tuesday afternoon.

BAHAMA (WTVD) -- A Durham police officer was injured while riding an ATV at a training range Tuesday afternoon.

The incident happened before 3:30 p.m. in the 7000 block of Cassam Road in Bahama.

Authorities said the officer was injured after the ATV, driven by the officer, ran off the side of the road and flipped over.

The officer, who was on duty at the time, was taken to Duke University Hospital's Level 1 Trauma Center with serious injuries.

According to the family, the officer has a concussion and a broken wrist.

Police have not released the officer's name.

The accident is being investigated by the DPD's Traffic Services Unit which officials said is standard protocol.
