1 dead, another injured in Cumberland County crash

CUMBERLAND COUNTY, North Carolina (WTVD) -- North Carolina State Highway Patrol says a man is dead, and his female passenger is seriously injured after he was speeding, lost control, and crashed in Cumberland County on Sunday.

The driver was going west on Claude Lee Road, driving an estimated speed of 90 to 100 miles per hour, according to authorities.



They say he lost control went up an embankment and into trees.



The driver was identified Monday as William Currie.



The name of the driver, female passenger, or her condition has yet to be released. State troopers also identified the passenger as Sashawnee Caulder of St Pauls, NC. She was taken to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center with serious injuries.
