Fire displaces family of six
PINE LEVEL, N.C. (WTVD) -- Fire destroyed a Pine Level home and left a family of six, including children, without a permanent place to live Saturday.
The homeowner briefly spoke with ABC11 and said she lost everything. Money, medicine, and personal belongings are now all destroyed.
The fire happened at a home on Leafwood Court.
"I heard a big boom, and it sounded like an earthquake. And I just saw them come out," said eyewitness Luis Galan.
Galan lives right next door. He said it was around 2:00 Saturday afternoon when he was startled by what sounded like an explosion. Neighbors in the mobile home park started pouring out of their homes.
"It turned to complete chaos," said Galan.
He saw the family of six running out of the home. He said one woman then turned around to go move her car, which was parked right near the flames.
"She was getting the keys right there," said Galan. "It felt like it was about to explode because I heard like steaming."
Multiple fire departments helped put out the flames. The Johnston County Fire Marshall's Office is working to determine the cause. Thankfully, there were no injuries.
The homeowner told ABC11 her family has a temporary place to live.
The American Red Cross is helping them following the fire.
