Car carrier strikes bridge on I-95 in Harnett County

DUNN, N.C. (WTVD) -- A car fell off of a carrier truck after hitting a bridge on I-95 northbound Thursday in Harnett County.

It happened around 4:50 p.m. near mile marker 71.

Troopers said the carrier trailer was too high and hit the Jonesboro Road bridge. One of the cars then fell off the truck and was hit by another vehicle.

DOT estimates about $10,000 in damage to the bridge, but they said the structure is still safe and usable.

The carrier's driver was charged with a height violation.

No one was injured.
