Sanford police investigate shooting

SANFORD, N.C. (WTVD) -- Police responded to the scene of an apparent shooting in Lee County Monday evening.

It happened on Andrews Drive in Sanford.

Pictures from the scene show several crime scenes with at least six evidence markers in the area of Andrews and Meadows Drive.

Eyewitnesses said a woman was shot in the leg, and taken to the hospital by ambulance. They also say they heard at least 20 shots fired.

There's no word yet about the extent of the woman's injuries.
