NC 1st Congressional District may face recount
One of the most competitive districts in the US Congress remains too close to call and may face a recount.
North Carolina Congressional District 1, a race that pits Don Davis against Laurie Buckhout, could ultimately decide which party controls the US House of Representatives.
Davis is the incumbent, but North Carolina Republicans redrew maps before the election, giving themselves a better chance at taking the seat.
Buckhout issued a statement shortly after midnight saying the race may go to a recount.
"Thank you to the voters of North Carolina's First Congressional District. I've spent my life fighting for our country, fighting to defend our Constitution, and yes, fighting for extraordinary great Americans just like all of you! And it looks like we are going to continue fighting! Like all of you, we are reviewing all the results as they come in. Once the votes have been counted, we will look at all options for getting this over and done with. If a recount is required, we will be ready."
