RALEIGH, N.C. (WTVD) -- North Carolina is throwing the Stanley Cup champions a victory parade. There's also an up-close opportunity for Caniacs to see members of the team and the Cup in person.
The win is the team's second Stanley Cup championship and comes 20 years after they won the first one. The Canes victory parade could be largest parade in Raleigh's history.
Here's everything you need to know about the parade and rally in City Plaza.
The championship parade is scheduled for Saturday, June 20, starting at 11 a.m. in downtown Raleigh.
A rally on City Plaza will follow the parade. All of Fayetteville Street will be closed for the rally.
ABC11 will broadcast and stream the parade on Hulu, Disney+ and wherever you stream ABC11 News.
Several streets will be closed for the parade starting between 3:30 a.m. and 5:30 a.m.
Five decks offering FREE parking for the celebration:
For $10 you can park at the Performing Arts Center Deck and Convention Center Deck for the whole day.
Note that the Blount Street Deck is closed to the public on weekends and not available for Parade or Rally parking.
The first historic win, in 2006, marked the first time the state hosted a professional sports championship.
When the Canes won, there were two separate parades. The first was the day after the win. Fans gathered outside the RBC Center, which is now the Lenvo Center. The parade started at Carter-Finely and finished around the Lenovo Center. The day after the first parade, a second parade was held in downtown Raleigh and finished with a celebration at the State Capitol, according to the North Carolina Department of Natural & Cultural Resources.
