Live updates: Hurricanes hold victory parade and rally of the Stanley Cup champs in NC

Thousands of fans pack the streets of Downtown Raleigh hours ahead of the Carolina Hurricanes Stanley Cup victory parade.

Here's what you need to know about the Canes' parade route, parking and rideshare lots.

Parade Route

• Parade begins at the intersection of Hillsborough Street and St. Mary's Street

• Travels east down Hillsborough Street toward the NC State Capitol

• Turns right on Salisbury Street, then turns left on Morgan Street

• Turns right onto Fayetteville Street, heading South

• Ends on Davie Street. A fan rally is scheduled to happen after the parade in City Plaza.

• Fayetteville Street will be closed for fans to see the rally.

Caniacs are gearing up for what could be Raleighwood's biggest parade and celebration in the city's history. A bunch of Stanley Cup champs will get to see and hear fans who will line the streets of downtown for their victory parade.

WATCH: Canes arrive with the Stanley Cup

The Carolina Hurricanes touched down Monday evening at RDU to a throng of waiting Caniacs.

Bryson Karbley went viral after making social media pledges to get tattoos. He's now fulfilled the last of his promises -- getting a tattoo of the Stanley Cup if the Carolina Hurricanes won the NHL championship.

Earlier this week, Karbley visited Cleopatra Ink in Raleigh to get the final tattoo after previously getting a tattoo of Stormy and of the Warning Flag following social media vows.

From the North Carolina State Capitol to the Governor's Mansion and businesses along the parade route, the Capitol City is turning into Canes Country.

The colors black and red seem to be splashed almost everywhere, including food.

La Farm Bakery is just off the parade route and has whipped a couple themed treats. Staff will be serving Canes Championship Croissants, which are full of raspberry filling. La Farm is also making 5-pound sourdough bread with the Canes logo

"It's about bringing people together, breaking bread, and the community (being able) to celebrate," said La Farm COO Omar Gaye.

From 6-months-old to 6' 2" in 20 years

His grandson was 6 months old when he snapped a photo of him inside the Stanley Cup in 2006. Twenty years later, he's hoping to get a photo of his now 6 ft 2 in grandson standing beside the cup now that the Hurricanes are the 2026 champs.

Fan John Sutton will be among those watching the Canes and he is on a mission.

20 years ago, when the Canes last won the championship, he snapped a picture with his 6-month-old grandson Jack Henry sitting inside the Stanley Cup.

"The keeper of the Cup said do you want to set your grandson inside the cup and I said "Woah, yeah I wanna do that,'" said Sutton.

He says back then, his son worked part-time security at the then PNC Center and he was able to bring the whole family to see the cup on Employee Day.

Sutton says he would love another shot with his grandson and the cup two decades later.

"He's 6'2 now so he'll taller than the Cup," said Sutton.
