Both Harris and Trump make final push for NC voters | Live Blog

Saturday is the last day voters can cast their ballots early in person. Polling sites across North Carolina close at 3 p.m.

If you are voting by absentee ballot, you must return it to your county board of elections by Monday, Nov. 5, at 7:30 p.m.

Polling places close at 3 p.m.

Earlier Friday, the Trump campaign announced that former President Donald Trump would hold a campaign rally Monday at Raleigh's Dorton Arena.

But late Friday night, the campaign said that Trump will be joined by his running mate, Ohio Sen. JD Vance for a Sunday rally not far from Raleigh as well.

The Sunday event will be at Shelton Aviation -- Raleigh Executive Jetport, 715 Rod Sullivan Road in Sanford.

Donald Trump Jr. will join his father at the event.

Doors open at 10:30 a.m. and the event begins at 12:30 p.m.

In the final weekend before Election Day, Democrats are making a push through battleground states, including North Carolina.

Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, the Democratic nominee for vice president, will participate in a political event in Charlotte on Sunday evening.

No other details about that event have been released.

On Saturday, political strategist and commentator Ana Navarro will visit the Triangle to rally voters and volunteers in support of Vice President Kamala Harris, Walz, and other Democrats on the ballot.

Navarro will be at a Get Out the Vote event at 9 a.m. in Durham,

One-Stop Early Voting sites, where you can register to vote and vote in one visit, are open through 3 pm Saturday, the last day of early voting.

Friday, the U.S. Justice Department (DOJ) announced its plans to monitor compliance with federal voting rights laws in 86 jurisdictions in 27 states for the Nov. 5 general election.

Three of those jurisdictions are in North Carolina. According to information from the DOJ, they will be monitoring elections in Wake County, Alamance County and Mecklenburg County.

The Justice Department says it regularly deploys its staff to monitor for compliance with federal civil rights laws in elections in communities all across the country.
