CHICAGO -- A man's body was found wrapped in plastic and a blanket in the 13300-block of South Avenue M in Chicago's Hegewisch neighborhood.
A woman discovered the body around 3:20 p.m. Sunday. She told police she was walking by the garage when she smelled something strange. She found a dismembered body in the garbage.
Authorities have not released the name or age of the deceased. The Cook County Medical Examiner's Office confirmed receiving the body, but has not released any details. An autopsy is pending.
Chicago police issued an alert last week for a missing man who disappeared from the same address more than a year ago. Milan Lekich, 51, was last seen in June 2013.
His wife was found dying in her Indiana home last month. Her mother is also missing.
Authorities have not officially linked the body and the case of the missing man.
Area South police are conducting the death investigation.
