Morehead City police: Man with candy tried to lure kids into van

MOREHEAD CITY, N.C. (WTVD) -- The Morehead City Police Department is investigating at least one case where a man tried to lure kids into his van by offering candy.

The police department posted on its Facebook page that the incident happened on April 30 in the Medical Park Area. People who reported the incident said the man was white and between 40-50. He had a beard, long brown-grayish hair and was wearing a bandana.

They said he drove a black Buick or Ford with four doors, a loud muffler and a red stripe on the bottom.

After being approached, police say the children ran to get their guardians and when they returned, the man left the area at a high rate of speed, WCTI reports.
