Man shot in possible gun battle on Cornwallis in Durham

DURHAM (WTVD) -- A man was shot in what may have been a possible gun battle at Cornwallis and NC 55 in Durham on Monday night.

Durham Police said one man sustained non-life threatening injuries.

Police are investigating the possibility that people in two vehicles were firing shots at each other.

An ABC11 crew at the scene said officers were using evidence markers and had K9 officers on site tracking evidence.

A gunshot victim was struck in the buttocks. He was picked up by EMS a few miles away on Martin Luther King Parkway and taken to a hospital for treatment.

It's not yet known whether there were other victims.

Police did not have any further details.
