DURHAM (WTVD) -- Durham police are investigating a homicide after a man was shot and killed early Thursday morning.
Just after 12:45 a.m., police officers were called to the 3500 block of Westgate Drive, near the South Square shopping center off Martin Luther King Parkway, about a shooting.
When they arrived, they found 21-year-old Gerald Gholar inside a green SUV that was on a curb outside of a Taco Bell. He was suffering from a gunshot wound. Another vehicle, a gray sedan, was also found wrecked nearby.
Gholar was taken to the hospital where he died a short time later.
Officials said investigators interviewed several people at the scene and determined that Gholar knew the person who shot him and that the incident did not appear to be random.
No charges have been filed at this time. The investigation is ongoing.
