14-year-old boy dies after Moore County shooting

Moore County deputies are investigating a shooting on Hussey Road.

ROBBINS, N.C. (WTVD) -- Deputies are investigating after a 14-year-old was shot and killed near Robbins on Friday afternoon, according to the Moore County Sheriff.

Deputies said they found the victim at 3:03 p.m. on Hussey Road.

He was identified as Justin Lewis Maness of the 400 block of Hussey Road in Robbins.

Maness was taken to First Health Regional Hospital in Pinehurst in very serious condition, where he later died from his injuries.

Deputies have questioned two juveniles who were present at the scene at the time of the shooting.

The sheriff's office said it will discuss the case with the Moore County District Attorney's Office on Monday to determine whether charges will be filed.

Authorities said the shooting was not random.

"We extend our condolences to the family and will keep them in our prayers during this very tragic time," the sheriff's office said in a statement.
