KENLY (WTVD) -- A fire heavily damaged Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church in Kenly on Tuesday night.

Firefighters were called shortly before 11 p.m. to the church, located on Tilghman Street to find flames coming from the windows and the attic.

Three fire departments, two from Johnston County (Kenly and Micro) and one from Wilson County (Crossroads FD) responded along with Johnston EMS and Kenly Police.

The Johnston County fire marshal said there were no initial indications to suspect foul play but cautioned the investigation is just underway.

There were no reports of injuries.

Church members who wished to remain anonymous said the church is more than 100 years old and believed to be one of the oldest in the county.
