NC Department of Safety offers Orlando assistance
RALEIGH (WTVD) -- North Carolina's top-ranking homeland security official is offering emergency management and intelligence assets to assist in the investigation of the Orlando nightclub mass shooting.
At least 50 people were shot and killed and 53 were injured in the incident.
Frank Perry, the secretary of the Department of Public Safety, told ABC11 his agency is also "ramping up source development, both technical and human, and staying close to the [Department of Homeland Security] and the [Joint Terrorism Task Force] to both give and receive intelligence of any nature that can prevent terrorism attacks."
Perry says North Carolina is using a counter-terrorism model called "predictive intelligence-based law enforcement."
"All local, state and federal law enforcement constantly collaborate through the SBI's ISAAC (Information Sharing and Analysis Center), to funnel the slightest suspicion through ISAAC, then out to deputies, officers and troopers," Perry said.
