DURHAM (WTVD) -- Durham police are investigating a homicide after a woman's body was found in the 100 block of Ganyard Farm Way Thursday evening.

Officers responded to a call just before 6 p.m. and found the body of 32-year-old Cheradi Elizabeth Lynch of Durham in an undeveloped part of the subdivision.

The cause of death has not been determined at this time, but the death is being investigated as a homicide, according to police.

Forensic investigators combed over the grassy field where Lynch was found for hours trying to find clues. Neighbors told ABC11 children often play in the area.

Neighbors gathered outside their homes to watch the scene unfold. The discovery has many on edge.

"The kids play basketball on a little court over there. People walk their dogs over there," said neighbor Sharon Heidmann. "[I feel] unsettled. Very unsettled because this has never happened in this neighborhood."

Anyone with information is asked to call Investigator Ann Cristaldi at (919) 560-4440 extension 29322 or Durham CrimeStoppers at (919) 683-1200. CrimeStoppers pays cash rewards for information leading to arrests in felony cases and callers never have to identify themselves.
