DURHAM (WTVD) -- Durham police are investigating a murder Tuesday evening at Granby Street and Hanover Street.

Police said they were called just before 7:30 p.m. and found a man dead at the intersection when they arrived.

They later identified the victim as 26-year-old Gregory Devonta Little of Durham.

Detectives have not said if they have any suspects.

Witnesses reported hearing gunfire and then saw the body lying in the street.

"I heard either a gunshot or a firework go off, and I was just like just another firework, and then I come outside and see police officers and a guy laying on the ground and it looked like he was dead," Traron Trueluck said.

"It is concerning and sad ... I just pray for our community that we take the streets back and these senseless crimes," neighbor Jackie Smith said.

The death is Durham's 22nd homicide for 2015. The city had 25 in all of 2014.
