Pedestrian hit, killed in Fayetteville
FAYETTEVILLE (WTVD) -- A pedestrian was hit and killed in Fayetteville early Thursday morning.
The accident happened around 1:20 a.m. on Martin Luther King Jr. Freeway near the exit ramp to Bragg Boulevard.
Fayetteville police said the pedestrian was on the freeway when he was struck by a 2008 burgundy Dodge Avenger.
The pedestrian died after being hit. Police said the victim's name is being withheld until his family is notified. The driver of the car was not hurt.
The accident closed all lanes of Martin Luther King Jr. Freeway between Hay Street and Bragg Boulevard going towards Ramsey Street for several hours as emergency crews cleared the area.
The accident is still under investigation.
