WAKE FOREST, N.C. (WTVD) -- A 17-year-old is dead and two others were injured in a crash in Wake Forest Saturday morning.
The North Carolina State Highway Patrol said troopers responded to a single-vehicle crash on Chalk Road near Hidden Nook Lane around 5 a.m.
Troopers said a black Kia was driving north on Chalk Road when it crossed the center line, went off the road to the left, and hit a ditch on the shoulder. The vehicle then went airborne, hit a tree, and flipped onto the road.
The driver, 17-year-old Jackson Ryan Brookhart of Wake Forest, was killed in the crash.
The passengers, 18-year-old Reece Campbell of Greenville and a 17-year-old, were taken to the hospital for their injuries.
Authorities said speed was a contributing factor to the crash.
