2 arrested in connection to Goldsboro homicide, police say

GOLDSBORO, N.C. (WTVD) -- Police have arrested two people in relation to a homicide investigation in Goldsboro.

On Monday around 2:45 p.m., officers responded to a shooting in the 400 block of East New Hope Road. The victim, 28-year-old Demartquise Ti'Quez Swinson of La Grange, was taken to UNC Health Wayne and later airlifted to ECU Health in Greenville, where he succumbed to his injuries the following day.

During the investigation, Goldsboro Police identified 19-year-old Preston Chestnut Jr. of Goldsboro as a suspect. He was arrested Friday on charges of murder, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana, and possession of a controlled substance on jail premises.

Chestnut was apprehended inside a vehicle near Sheetz on N. Spence Avenue, where all occupants of the car were taken into custody. A search warrant executed at his residence resulted in the seizure of evidence.

22-year-old Tyler Pearsall of Dudley was also arrested on charges of accessory after the fact of murder, possession with intent to sell and deliver cocaine, and two counts of carrying a concealed weapon.

Both suspects are being held without bond.
