
MORRISVILLE, N.C. (WTVD) -- Three people managed to escape after their car sank in a retention pond on Monday evening.
Morrisville Fire/Rescue Department crews were dispatched to a report of a vehicle sinking into a retention pond near 3013 Carrington Mill Boulevard.
Morrisville's Ladder 22, Rescue 21, Engine 21 and Battalion 4 arrived and found a white 2018 Honda CR-V submerged in the pond. Three people were getting out of the vehicle and swimming to the shore. A rescuer went into the water to check the CR-V for other occupants and found that the vehicle was empty.
A tow company pulled the Honda out of the pond.
No one was hurt. Morrisville Police are investigating the cause of the crash.
