SAMPSON COUNTY, N.C. (WTVD) -- A child was killed in a single-car crash Tuesday night in Sampson County.
Three children were ejected from the car during the impact. One of them died at the scene.
On Thursday, he was identified as Walker Lambert, 3.
The crash happened just before 6:45 p.m. on Autry Mill Road near US 13.
The Highway Patrol said Brittiney Simmons, 33, of Autryville, was driving a Ford Expedition and ran off the road onto the right shoulder. After she overcorrected, the SUV hit a ditch and a tree.

The SUV then flipped several times.
The other two children, ages 13 and 5, were rushed to hospitals. One was taken to WakeMed, and another was airlifted to New Hanover Regional Medical Center.
Simmons, the mother of all three children, was taken to WakeMed. She was the only occupant wearing a seat belt, state troopers said.
The Highway Patrol said speed was likely a contributing factor. The incident remains under investigation.
