RALEIGH, N.C. (WTVD) -- The Wake County Sheriff's Office arrested a third person in connection with an alleged fraud scheme targeting Duke Energy.
Shaniyah R. Dove, 29, was arrested Tuesday and faces three counts of felony identity theft and one count of felony conspiracy.
Authorities said the investigation started in July when numerous accounts were fraudulently opened in the names of living and dead Duke Energy customers.
The utility reportedly lost nearly $500,000 as a result of the scheme.
Two other people -- Dazmyn Person, 39, and 36-year-old Rafael Stefan Williams -- are also facing charges in this case.
The case remains under investigation.
