911 calls lead to Durham mom's murder charge

DURHAM, N.C. (WTVD) -- Recently released 911 calls provide a clearer picture of what happened on Chartwell Court the night of February 12.

Durham police arrested and charged a mother with murder after two children were found unresponsive, one of whom later died.

Eyewitness News listened to the calls and learned at least two neighbors made pleas for help. One caller described being in their home, hearing someone cry for help, and going to the front door to investigate. In a nearly 7-minute call, the neighbor reported seeing three people outside the home across the street.

Dispatcher 911: "Are you or anyone else in danger right now?"

Caller: "I'm not in danger, I would say someone across the street is in danger. That's what I'm trying to tell you."

Caller: "I really think you need to expedite things as much as possible."

In another call, a different neighbor reported hearing a woman, identified as the mother and grandmother, yelling in the background that her daughter had overdosed. A separate call revealed a first responder acknowledging administering Narcan to someone on the scene.

Andrea Faust was charged with murder and attempted murder. While in custody, she attempted suicide. In court, her husband described her actions as a mental health episode, calling her "a tremendous mother."

Faust is due back in court on Wednesday.
