RANDLEMAN, N.C. (WTVD) -- A Sampson County man is facing multiple charges in connection with an AMBER Alert that was sent out earlier Wednesday in Randolph County.

The alert had been sent for a 1-year-old girl last seen in Randleman. The Randolph County Sheriff's Office later canceled the Alert after the child was found in Sampson County.

The Randolph County Sheriff's Office said the little girl was believed to be with Tyler Ray Toodle, 26.

They were last seen leaving a home in the 700 block of Hanner Road in Randleman in a black 2018 Honda Civic. Authorities eventually tracked them to Sampson County and spotted Toodle's car on NC Highway 24 just east of Roseboro.

When deputies tried to pull the car over, the driver refused, which led to a short pursuit, the Sampson County Sheriff's Office said. Deputies used stop sticks on Mitchell Loop Road, disabling the Honda. The car veered off the roadway and into a ditch.

Toodle was taken into custody, and the child was safely recovered. Sampson County EMS evaluated the child and confirmed she was not harmed.

"The quick actions of our deputies, combined with coordination across county lines, brought this situation to a safe conclusion," said Capt. Marcus Smith, of the Sampson County Sheriff's Office. "We are thankful the child is unharmed and now in safe hands."

Toodle, of Roseboro, was charged with felony speeding to elude arrest, felony possession of a stolen vehicle, misdemeanor reckless driving, driving while license revoked, misdemeanor resisting a public officer, and misdemeanor child abuse in Sampson County.

Deputies also served him with warrants from Randolph County for felony kidnapping, felony larceny of a motor vehicle, and driving while license revoked.

Toodle was being held in the Sampson County Detention Center with no bond. The Sampson County Department of Social Services took custody of the child and later reunited her with her mother.
