
WAKE COUNTY, N.C. (WTVD) -- The man accused of shooting and killing a WakeMed police officer inside the Garner Healthplex has officially been charged.
Benji Martin was released from the hospital after getting treated for a gunshot wound.
He's now being processed at Wake County jail on a murder charge.
Martin is accused of shooting and killing Officer Roger Smith.
He was buried Monday in Clayton after a service in Raleigh.
Smith was remembered as a friendly face working at WakeMed Garner Healthplex. He was also recalled as someone dedicated to serving others, whether as a Garner volunteer firefighter, a Knightdale police officer and most recently for WakeMed Police.
