Man accused of shooting GA officer in custody

MCCAYSVILLE, Ga. (WTVD) -- The man at the center of a Blue Alert in North Carolina on Saturday has been taken into custody, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation said.

Authorities said 26-year-old Timothy Craig Ramsey is suspected of shooting an officer in McCaysville, Georgia, on Friday night after officers were called to a report of a suspicious person, according to ABC Atlanta affiliate WSB.

Officials said McCaysville Police Captain Brantley Worley is in critical condition following the shooting.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation said Ramsey was taken into custody at about 6 p.m. Saturday following a hourslong manhunt.

Authorities have not released any other details.

McCaysville is a city of about 1,200 residents along Georgia's border with Tennessee.
