RALEIGH, N.C. (WTVD) -- A very rare species of plant in Raleigh is about to do something special.
We're talking about the flowering of the rare Titan Arum Corpse Flower at Juniper Level Botanic Garden on Sauls Road.
The Juniper Level Botanical Garden opened to the public for the event on Monday. It's now open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays.
The Garden will open for extended hours when the Titan opens until 8 p.m. If that happens to be on a weekend, it will be open then as well for the event.
It's nicknamed the Corpse Flower because of its pungent smell.
It's the world's largest inflorescence flower.
The plant is about 10 years old and has only bloomed in 2018 and 2023.
The 41-pound flower is growing five inches a day!
Officials predict it will open this coming Saturday around 3 p.m. to 4 p.m.
