HOPE MILLS, N.C. (WTVD) -- A frantic 911 call in the middle of the night led Cumberland County deputies to a Hope Mills neighborhood, where they discovered a longtime sheriff's office captain shot to death.
Captain Adam Bean, a 20-year veteran of the Cumberland County Sheriff's Office, was found dead just before 11 p.m. Friday along the 1600 block of Seattle Slew Lane. Investigators say Bean, who was off duty at the time, had been shot during what they are calling a domestic dispute involving another law enforcement officer.

Days later, the newly released 911 calls captured the panic and confusion of the moments immediately following the shooting.
In the first call, a woman pleaded frantically for help. Her voice cracked as she repeated the same words over and over:
"Please hurry up, please hurry up."
When the dispatcher asked her what happened, she struggled to get the words out.
"Umm... I don't know. I don't know. I don't know," she sobbed.
Through tears, she eventually told the dispatcher a gun was inside the home.
"Everything is secure. The gun's secure. It's right here," she said. "Please hurry up and get a medic here."
Despite attempts to save him, investigators say Bean was already dead when deputies arrived.
A second 911 call came from a neighbor who reported hearing multiple gunshots, followed by suspicious movement on the street.
"After the gunshots happened, two vehicles... it looks like a smaller SUV and a pickup truck pulled up," the caller said. "They just turned their lights off."
As of March 31, no arrests have been made in Bean's death. The Cumberland County Sheriff's Office and the State Bureau of Investigation have not released additional details about the case or the officer reportedly involved.
ABC11 has reached out to both agencies for updates as the investigation continues.
