Death investigation underway in Chatham County

BEAR CREEK, N.C. (WTVD) -- A death investigation is underway in Chatham County, the sheriff's office said late Thursday night.

Deputies responded to a home in the 200 block of Vander Oldham Road in Bear Creek.

Deputies and investigators remain on the scene overnight as the investigation continues.

The sheriff's office said area residents can expect a significant law enforcement presence while investigators process the scene.

There is no known threat to the public.
