Death investigation in Vance County after 2 people fail to show up for work
VANCE COUNTY, N.C. (WTVD) -- A death investigation is underway in Vance County after two people failed to show up for work, Sheriff Curtis Brame said Monday.
Deputies responded around 10 a.m. to a welfare check in the Gillside community after the two had not arrived at their jobs. Deputies found a man and woman dead inside a home. Both appeared to have been shot.
Identities have not yet been released.
The North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) is assisting the sheriff's office with the case.
"We do not believe the citizens of Vance County should be alarmed, as this does not appear to be a random act of violence," the sheriff's office said in a release.
