DURHAM, N.C. (WTVD) -- The Durham Fire Department (DFD) is making changes to its workflow starting on Friday, Jan. 2.
The changes will be announced Monday morning at a news conference.
According to DFD, the moves will provide better coverage, equalize workloads and help adjust to the Bull City's changing landscape.
Some of the changes include moving a number of ladder and other trucks to new locations and introduce a new engine company.
For the fire time since 2019, the DFD will be introducing a new company: Engine Company 7.
That district is currently covered by a "Quint." A Quint is a unit which is half fire engine and half ladder truck. The Quint will be redesignated as full-time ladder truck and be known as Ladder Company 7.
