Motorcyclist killed in Durham crash with pickup truck identified

DURHAM, N.C. (WTVD) -- Durham police have released the identity of a motorcyclist who was killed following a crash Sunday evening.

Officers say the crash happened shortly after 7 p.m. on Sunday on Hillsborough Road near NC Highway 147.

Monty Mangum, 57, of Durham was driving a motorcycle and going east on Hillsborough Road when he crossed over the double yellow line and hit a pickup head on.

Mangum was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the pickup truck was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Officials said Hillsborough Road between Operations Drive and Neal Road were closed for hours while officers investigated.
