Fayetteville man charged with kidnapping, sex crimes involving 15-year-old NC girl

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (WTVD) -- A Fayetteville man has been arrested and charged with kidnapping a 15-year-old.

The investigation led police to an apartment complex, where they arrested 64-year-old Brian Keith Riley.

Police also found the girl, who had been missing a day before from Columbus County, in Riley's apartment in the 600 block of Bartons Landing Place.

Riley was charged with first-degree kidnapping in Columbus County.

In Fayetteville, Riley was charged with felony crimes against nature, indecent liberties with a child, and statutory sex offense with a child 15 years old or younger.

"Our children are our most valuable gift, and no one should ever threaten their safety or innocence," said Columbus County Sheriff Bill Rogers. "The Columbus County Sheriff's Office will always do everything in our power to protect them. I am deeply proud of our investigators and thankful for the teamwork with Fayetteville Police that made this swift recovery possible."

He's due back in court in Columbus County on Oct. 13 and in Cumberland County on Oct. 21.

The case remains under investigation, and authorities said more charges are expected.
