
FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (WTVD) -- Fayetteville police are investigating a homicide after officers found a woman dead inside a home Wednesday morning.
According to the Fayetteville Police Department, officers responded around 1:49 a.m. to reports of a suspicious person in the 4500 block of Ruby Road. During that response, officers made contact with a man and took him into custody.
Police say the man led officers to a home in the 1000 block of Abrams Street. Officers entered residence and found an woman dead inside. Authorities said the woman had multiple stab wounds.
The Fayetteville Police Department's Homicide Unit responded to the scene and is leading the investigation.
The victim's identity is being withheld until her next-of-kin is notified. Police have not released additional details about possible charges.
Officials say the investigation remains active, and more information will be shared as it becomes available.
