DURHAM, N.C. (WTVD) -- The Rotary Club of Durham invites the community to a special Flag Day celebration on Saturday, June 14, from 9:00 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. at Hub RTP, located at 300 Park Offices Dr in Research Triangle Park.

The event honors veterans, first responders, healthcare workers, educators, and other local heroes with a field full of American flags, including a tribute to fallen Durham County veterans.

The program will feature a flag ceremony by the Hillside High School Junior ROTC, patriotic music from the Riverside High School Choir, reflections on America's 250th Anniversary from local Rotary Interact students, family activities hosted by the North Carolina Children's Museum, and remarks from community leaders and local veterans.

Flags for Heroes is a free event that is open to the public and offers a meaningful opportunity for residents of all ages to come together in honor of courage, sacrifice, leadership, service, and community spirit.

ABC11 is a proud sponsor of the Flags for Heroes project.

Funds raised through the project support local nonprofits and charitable causes throughout Durham and the Triangle area.
