Juvenile killed, 1 other injured in Durham shooting
Police are investigating after a juvenile was killed in a shooting near the McDougald Terrace community in Durham on Friday.

DURHAM, N.C. (WTVD) -- Police are investigating after a juvenile was killed in a shooting near the McDougald Terrace community in Durham on Friday.

Durham police said officers responded to reports of a shooting in the 1200 block of Dayton Street just after 8:30 p.m. When officers arrived they found a man and a juvenile victim with gunshot wounds.

The juvenile was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Police said the adult victim was also taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

A witness told ABC11 he heard multiple shots coming from nearby and as he got closer, he said he saw what appeared to be two people lying on the ground being helped by emergency officials.

"It's not the residents inside here, it's people coming into here shooting," witness Jontae Dunston said. "To sit out here and have the children out here and for somebody to come around here, and be chaotic in our community. And put our children in danger. When's it gonna stop?"

Authorities said the shooting appears to be isolated and that there is no threat to the community.

There was a police presence Saturday morning on Lawson Street, between Plum Street and Moore Place. Durham police confirmed it was connected to the deadly shooting that occurred on Dayton Street.
