
DURHAM, N.C. (WTVD) -- A Hillside High School student is facing serious charges after a chaotic lunchroom incident on Thursday.
Authorities say the female student allegedly set a trash can on fire and discharged pepper spray, affecting five people nearby, including a teacher who was taken to the hospital for treatment.
The student, whose age prevents the release of further details, is now looking at charges of assault, assault on a government official, and arson.
The Durham County Sheriff's Office is filing juvenile petitions against the girl.
