Holly Springs daycare teacher facing child abuse charge

HOLY SPRINGS, N.C. (WTVD) -- A Holly Springs daycare teacher is facing a child abuse charge after police say she grabbed a toddler by the arm and dragged him across a playground.

Court documents filed this week in Wake County identify the defendant as 40-year-old Archana Singh, of Apex.

According to the charging documents, investigators allege that Singh, who was working as a daycare teacher, grabbed a child by the arm, jerked him backward and dragged him five to 10 feet across the playground.

The documents state that the child lost his balance, fell backward, and hit his head on the ground.

Singh voluntarily surrendered with her husband and attorney present.

She was released on bond and is due in court June 10.
