
RALEIGH, N.C. (WTVD) -- Raleigh's latest crime report is out, and the numbers show progress on most fronts, with one alarming exception.
The Raleigh Police Department's second-quarter numbers show violent crime and property crime down 1% compared to the same period last year. Homicides dropped 33%, from six to four.
Robberies are down 14%. Residential and commercial burglaries are also down significantly.
But traffic fatalities are up 67%, jumping from nine deaths last year to 15 this quarter.
Motor vehicle theft also jumped 5% from the same quarter last year.
